Story Time for June

…mind appeals to mind and thought begets thought and that is how we become educated. For this reason we owe it to every child to put him in communication with great minds that he may get at great thoughts; with the minds, that is, of those who have left us great works; and the only vital method of education appears to be that children should read worthy books, many worthy books. ~Charlotte Mason, Volume 6~

Our story time for the month of June will focus on bees, flowers, fireflies, and fairy folk.

We will travel the countryside with Miss Rumphius spreading seeds of future beauty as we watch our own lupine bloom.

We will celebrate love and a midsummer wedding on another visit with the sweet mice of Brambly Hedge.

We will learn about bees and how honey is made,

and we will learn about the summer solstice and how different cultures have observed this time throughout history.

We will enjoy a delightful introduction to Shakespeare through Bruce Coville’s retelling of A Midsummer Night’s Dream,

and we will celebrate the return of the fireflies.
